Lucy’s Story - a report from Sri Lanka

Lucy Honeyman in Sri LankaLucy Honeyman has done an enormous amount of work for children in Sri Lanka and is helping us raise money for a new school. Here she writes about her experiences, her motivations, future projects and the effects of Mondo Foundation’s work on people’s lives.

Nepal Report Available

Mondo Foundation carried out a Needs Analysis during 2009 and has spent the past nine months managing the construction of five school buildings, recruiting and training six new teachers, setting up libraries and providing games and musical equipment to all ten schools within the programme.

New video complete

The MondoChallenge Foundation has completed a new video profiling its work in the HIV/AIDS livelihoods programmes, in particular the small grants scheme. These are running in northern Tanzania and 300 families have already been supported.

Local Tanzanians as well as western volunteers have been involved, providing business training and support to the small businesses chosen to receive grants.

The average grant is £80 and this is used to buy stock, equipment, materials for tailoring, sewing machines, poultry etc. 90% of the families supported are running successfully after 12 months. "The money and help have given me so much help and hope. Now I can provide for my small family. I have the will to live!" Paulina in Tanzania.
